In my role as founder and CEO of Optimized Brain, I often draw inspiration from heroic characters, and Boba Fat is a powerful example to all entrepreneurs and executives who are called upon to lead in difficult times. Boba Fett has inspired me to build and lead a global business in turbulent times, and her character gives me some important lessons that can inspire you to lead with conviction.

1. A- Do what you need to do to hold the players
After a life-changing experience with the Tuscan Raiders, Boba Fate’s ambitions change. Instead of working for various bosses as a “bounty hunter” he wants to build and lead his own empire. So, he asked Master Assassin Fenek Sand to join him on this mission, “You can only go so far without a tribe.” At first, Fenek refuses. She tells him that she will do different things but wants to be an independent contractor because she values her freedom.
Similarly, on your journey as a business leader, you will meet amazing A-players who have not yet become 100% committed to your mission. So what do you do to make them understand?
Take a page out of Bob’s book; He has seen Fenek at work. He needs someone who has not only muscles but also brains. Fenek has both. To hold him, Boba presents competitive terms that no one has before: “I will cut you off with all success and pledge my life to protect you.”
As a business leader, A-players may need a variety of facilities to sign in and retain. What do they look like? It could be equity in the company, generous parental holidays or unlimited holidays – the possibilities are almost limitless.
2. People don’t see your good intentions, do good anyway
In your quest to make a positive impact through your business, you need to collaborate with different parties to deliver results on a scale. What do you do when other parties are not willing to form an alliance to help you achieve mutually beneficial goals?
When Boba Fett Mos becomes the new leader of the Espa region (Daimio), he wants to build bonds with other regional leaders nearby. He thinks cooperation rather than competition will protect their planet from threats. But when Boba Fate offers the alliance to the leaders so that everyone can improve, he faces objections. Others do not see it as their problem. One even challenges Bob’s leadership, saying that it is under attack in Bob’s territory, not theirs, and that there is no reason for their rank to bleed.
What do you do when others do not see you in a mutually beneficial mission?
Boba stood up and replied emphatically, “Then I will fight these battles alone. I will defeat these intermediaries who are threatening our planet. I will make the roads safer again so that everyone in this house can improve.” Boba not only decided to lead himself, he did it selflessly in the interest of all parties.
When you approach an organization to partner with you, consider how you can win for everyone, even if people are not necessarily willing to cooperate.

3. Stick to your guiding principles
When you step into a strong leadership position, you will have a close circle of you, such as investors, your senior leadership team, and even family members whispering in your ear with good intentions. But how to cut the sound? How do you make decisions when confronted with conflicting opinions?
Again, we can learn from the dumb fat. As the new Daimio, people close to him give good advice that he should give a signal of strength to the Moss Esper people to accept. His Droid Moss Asper brings in two bodyguards of the former Dimio and advises to torture them so that their cries send a strong message across the country. But Boba is not the kind of leader he wants to be, so he rejects Droid’s advice, later saying, “Jabba [the former Daimyo] Fear has ruled. I want to rule with dignity. “
If you do not know your internal guiding values and principles, it will be challenging to make decisions at difficult times, especially when advice from your close circle seems to be to your advantage. What values can you rely on to make decisions indefinitely?
4. Discuss with clear purpose
As a business leader, you accept by giving something. How do you ensure that there are clear terms for this donation and acceptance when it is not based on a financial transaction? To be nice in the discussion, see how others do it.
Boba Fate negotiates for continued wealth throughout his leadership. When Boba becomes Dimio of the Moss Espa region, his druid brings in two bodyguards from the previous leader, reporting that they will not surrender. Although Droid advises killing bodyguards, Boba instead asks, “Would you be loyal to me if I could save your life?” Boba knows he needs a team he can trust the most in his life, so he makes it clear to the two bodyguards that he will not kill them if they are loyal.
When someone asks you for something in exchange for a business, consider how to negotiate the terms so that the other party accepts the full value of the offer.

5. Be hyper-focused on a clean mission
In your business journey, you will encounter many challenges and confusions that can get you out of your way. Why are you a leader in this business? Who are you doing this business for? When you have to accept a sacrifice, do you protect shareholders, employees or customers?
Boba Fate is repeatedly challenged in his mission. Eventually, he encounters the villain, Cad Ban, who is ready to kill Boba. Before Cade Ben pulls the trigger, he asks Boba about his angle. Boba replies, “This is my city. They are my people. I will not leave them.” Then, in a quick move, Boba fights to protect the most important thing to him – his people.
What will you fight for in times of trouble? When the unprecedented time comes, will you take the easy way out and leave, or will you continue to fight with and for your people?
